Cavities are caused by sugars in our foods that bacteria use for energy producing acid that that soften tooth structure. If left untreated, bacteria in the softened tooth structure also known as cavity will keep getting bigger until it reaches the pulp or nerve in the tooth center. This causes inflammation and infection of the nerve which is extremely painful.
During your exam, digital x-rays may be taken to aid in the detection of cavities early on. Advancements in dental care have made tooth colored filings an excellent choice to replace soft discolored tooth structure as a result of having cavities

With all our efforts to help you keep your smile healthy, it may be necessary to restore a damaged tooth. Untreated cavities can cause problems that can be painful and more expensive to treat in the future. Tooth-colored fillings and crowns are excellent for protecting and strengthening teeth from further damage. Broken, chipped or worn teeth can be a sign of teeth alignment or jaw problems. These can be addressed with crowns, porcelain veneers or cosmetic bonding that can help change the appearance of teeth. Missing teeth can cause problems with chewing and can affect your smile. Restoring missing teeth with dental bridges, implants, partial or full dentures is a great way to bring stability in the mouth and help you smile.
